Maryland Museums Association, Inc. applied for and was awarded a competitive Inclusive History Grant from the Maryland 250 Commission for an oral history training and toolkit for all Marylanders interested or engaged in oral history work.
Francesco De Salvatore was selected as the expert consultant and has been working closely with MMA and its partners in the project, specifically the Maryland State Archives and Digital Maryland, that also participated as panelists in the training webinar.
WEBINAR
This virtual training will provide an overview of oral history methods, and access to the new free toolkit for creating an oral history project/program.
The workshop is designed to be engaging to everyone interested in oral history work with a focus on project planning, ethics and privacy, and digital access.
TOOLKIT
This oral history toolkit was created in 2026 by Francesco De Salvatore for the Maryland Museums Association to support community historians. The toolkit is designed as a workbook with exercises and prompts to help at every stage of an oral history project, including planning, pre-interview, interview, and post-interview; as well as resources for archiving and access.
