BACKGOUND
Responding to a need in the field, Maryland Museums Association applied for and received funding from competitive grant programs at the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority and Preservation Maryland to commission an economic impact study of Maryland’s museum sector.
SCOPE OF WORK
MMA selected Parker Strategy Group to complete the project as expert consultant. Through this contract with Parker Strategy Group, MMA will measure and interpret the statewide and local economic contributions of museums, contextualize these findings within related industries (e.g., tourism, recreation, revitalization), and provide a final report suitable for widespread use and distribution for industry reference, public awareness, legislative advocacy, and/or goal-setting purposes.
SURVEY
MMA has contracted Parker Strategy Group to conduct an economic impact analysis of museums in Maryland of which a central component is a museum industry survey. This data will be instrumental in telling the story of what your museum offers to the broader economic ecosystem and the culture of your community.
The survey is now closed.
OPEN MEETINGS
Each 1.5 hour meeting will include a brief presentation by Parker Strategy Group about existing impact data and early survey results, followed by a facilitated discussion to bring to light the impact and needs of Maryland's museums.
Bring data, reports, or materials to share if you care to, but certainly not required. Meetings will not be recorded. Meetings are hosted at locations that are accessible and inclusive. If you need/want any additional information or accommodations, please contact us!
