About
Mission:
The Maryland Museums Association (MMA) is an alliance of historical and cultural institutions that collect, hold, interpret, and protect the cultural and material heritage within the State. The association advocates for members by enhancing professionalism in those institutions and individuals, and promoting awareness of museum interests.
Vision:
MMA is a preeminent organization for historical and cultural institutions, museum professionals and associated sectors in Maryland, a comprehensive source of museum advocacy, professional education, and best resource management practices.
Guiding Principles:
We value the rich cultural heritage of Maryland.
We recognize the contribution of each museum in the state regardless of size.
We promote professional education for our members, attracting participation through quality programs.
We advocate for and bring services to our members, accommodating the greatest numbers possible by varying schedules and locations over time as creatively employing technology.
